Without a radio trigger, an off-camera flash usually depends on a clear line of sight; the PocketWizard Mini TT1 Nikon sends the firing signal by radio, with a maximum range of 365 m. It’s a compact transmitter that sits in the Nikon camera’s hot shoe, while its own hot shoe can take a flash. That makes it handy for portraits with a flash placed away from the camera, or product shots where the light needs to come from a particular direction. PocketWizard’s ControlTL system passes flash-exposure information to compatible remote units, including changes to flash exposure compensation, ISO, shutter speed and aperture. The transmitter can work with FlexTT5 receivers and older PocketWizard units, so it can fit into a setup with compatible equipment you already own. Radio operation is useful when a flash is out of sight or the shooting position makes an optical signal unreliable.

Radio flash control

• Up to 365 m range: The radio link can trigger remote flashes or cameras across a studio or a larger working area. ControlTL operation has a maximum range of 240 m.
• Hot shoe for camera and flash: Mount the Mini TT1 on the camera’s hot shoe, then use its own hot shoe for a flash. The transmitter can still send signals to remote PocketWizard units.
• ControlTL communication: The system interprets information from the camera hot shoe and sends it to compatible remote units. Changes to flash exposure compensation and camera exposure settings are passed along.
• HyperSync and high-speed sync: With compatible PocketWizard receivers, HyperSync supports flash synchronisation up to 1/500 sec. At faster shutter speeds, the system switches to FP/high-speed sync, up to 1/8000 sec.
• Remote receiver compatibility: It works with PocketWizard receivers including FlexTT5, Plus II and MultiMax. Use one or more FlexTT5 units to trigger remote flashes or cameras.
• Rapid shooting and radio channels: The system supports shooting up to 8 frames per second and offers 52 channels across 26 frequencies, giving you options when setting up a radio link.
