A hood is used at the front of a lens to help block stray light, which can reduce unwanted flare in a picture. It can be especially handy when sunlight or a bright lamp is coming from just outside the frame. For photographers replacing a hood, the model code is the key detail to match; the Canon name alone isn’t enough to identify a lens pairing. This product suits someone who already knows they need the ET-65 III, or who is checking a lens’s hood designation before choosing a replacement. Keep the code in mind when comparing accessories, and use the hood when a bright light source is affecting contrast. Its purpose is focused and practical: shade the lens, without adding another photographic control to learn.

Specialist Note

Photographers who often frame toward bright skies or shoot near windows will recognise why a lens hood can be handy. This one is identified as the Canon ET-65 III, so I’d use that full code when matching it to the hood you need; “Canon” on its own doesn’t tell you which hood to choose. When light is striking the lens from the side, fit the hood and compose with that light source just outside the frame to help limit flare. It’s also a sensible accessory to keep available for outdoor portraits in strong daylight. My honest advice: don’t assume a similar-looking hood is the same model. The ET-65 III name is the useful part to match.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Canon

Product type: Lens hood

Model designation: ET-65 III
