That makes it a considered option when the surface is part of how you want a print to be experienced, not just a place to put an image. It’s aimed at photographers and printmakers looking for paper identified specifically as fine art textured, in A3+ format. The name also includes the designation “25V”; I’ve kept that as supplied rather than guessing what the letter means. This paper is best suited to prints where a textured fine-art presentation is the point. If you’re choosing paper mainly for a smooth look, this is the wrong direction. The useful thing to decide is whether the visible, tactile quality of the paper belongs with the image you want to print.

Choosing it for your print

Think about the finished print before you choose the paper. A textured surface makes its presence felt, so it makes sense when you want the paper itself to contribute to the presentation. For a photograph intended to be viewed as a fine-art print, that can be a deliberate part of the choice; for an image where you want the surface to recede, a textured paper may not suit your aim. There’s no need to treat “fine art” as a promise about how every image will look. The image and the surface have to work together, and that comes down to personal taste. If you already know you want texture in the finished print, the title gives you a clear starting point: Ilford Galerie Prestige, fine art textured, in A3+.

Technical Specifications

Product: Ilford Galerie Prestige Fine Art Textured Gpfat A3+ 25V

Format: A3+

Paper type: Fine Art Textured

Designation: 25V
