The JJC F-6XSTAR62 adds a star effect to those highlights, giving night scenes and other light-filled compositions a more graphic, decorative feel. It’s a creative filter for photographers who want the lights themselves to become part of the picture, rather than simply recording them as they appear. Try it with street lamps, illuminated shop windows or festive lights: compose so the bright points are visible, then use the filter to bring out their star-like appearance. The effect depends on what’s in the scene, so it’s most rewarding when there are distinct points of light to work with. Its 62mm size is the key practical detail when choosing it for a lens. This is an effect filter, not a general-purpose way to alter every part of an image, and scenes without bright highlights won’t give it much to do.

Specialist Note

Can the JJC F-6XSTAR62 make street lights look like stars? Yes: that’s the point of this star filter, and it works best when bright lights are clearly visible in your composition. I’d use it for a city scene after dark or for festive lights, placing the lamps or bulbs where you want the eye to land. The 62mm size matters because it’s made for a lens with a matching filter diameter; it isn’t a one-size-fits-every-lens accessory. I’d also keep the scene simple enough for those star-like highlights to read clearly. If there aren’t bright point lights in the frame, the filter has little to transform.

Technical Specifications

Brand: JJC

Model: F-6XSTAR62

Filter type: Star filter

Filter size: 62mm
