It’s built for filmmakers and video creators using Leica L-mount cameras who want to adjust framing without changing lenses. The 28–45mm range covers wide establishing shots through tighter interview framing, while keeping the lens in the standard-zoom category. It’s particularly well suited to controlled filming, where you can set your composition and focus with intention. Use it for interviews, narrative scenes or location work where a single lens needs to cover more than one framing. Its manual-focus design makes it a considered fit for crews who work with deliberate focus adjustments rather than relying on autofocus. The metric version is a natural option for productions that plan shots and lens settings using metric measurements.

Specialist Note

Framing changes stay within a useful 28–45mm span, so you can move from a broader view to a tighter shot without swapping lenses. For an interview, I’d begin at 28mm to include some of the room, then move toward 45mm for a closer composition. Focus is manual, which suits a planned pull between a subject and something in the foreground; it does mean fast, unpredictable action takes more attention. T2 gives you room to work in dimmer interiors while maintaining a chosen shutter speed. This lens makes most sense for filmmakers who can manage focus deliberately, rather than anyone expecting autofocus to follow a moving subject.

Technical Specifications

Product kind: Interchangeable lens

Focal length: 28–45mm

Maximum aperture: T2

Lens type: Standard Zoom

Mount: Leica L

Sensor format: Full Frame

Focus: Manual Focus
