The SmallHD 17-1234 is for operators using an Ultra 7 who want this specific part of the hood covered. It’s a practical addition when you’re checking framing or viewing a picture in bright surroundings, such as on location or near a bright window. Rather than replacing the hood, the flag addresses light reaching the display from below. That makes its job clear and focused: add lower-edge shade to an Ultra 7 setup. It won’t block light coming from above or from the sides, so it’s best considered as one part of the hood rather than a solution to every viewing condition. If light from below is the distraction, this is the flag designed to deal with it.

Specialist Note

On a bright exterior set, a patch of light below the monitor can make the image harder to judge just when you’re checking a frame. This is where the Ultra 7 Bottom Flag earns its place: it adds shade along the hood’s lower edge, so it suits operators who need a clearer view while framing or reviewing a shot. I’d use it when light is coming up from below, and keep in mind that its coverage is specific to that direction; it won’t shade the screen from above or from the sides. It’s a focused add-on for an Ultra 7 hood, not a replacement for the hood itself.

Technical Specifications

Product name: SmallHD 17-1234 Ultra 7 Lens Hood Bottom Flag

Category: Lens Hood

Flag position: Bottom
