The Canon EL-1 Colour Filter Set gives Canon EL-1 users a way to bring colour into their lighting, for more deliberate creative effects in portraits or other controlled scenes. It suits photographers who want to shape the look of a frame with colour rather than rely on the flash’s unmodified light. Think of it as a creative accessory: choose a coloured filter when you want the light itself to contribute to the image, rather than simply illuminate it. That can be useful for adding a coloured accent or changing the atmosphere of a portrait. The title identifies this as a set for the EL-1; it isn’t a general-purpose diffuser. If you prefer neutral, uncoloured flash, you may have little reason to reach for it.

Specialist Note

For a portrait with a Canon EL-1, I’d use a colour filter when I want the flash to add to the mood, not just brighten the subject. The EL-1 name matters: this is a specific set for that flash, so I’d keep it with that lighting kit rather than think of it as a universal accessory. And because it’s a colour filter set, it gives you coloured-light options to work with; use one where you want a visible accent, such as on a background, and keep the subject’s lighting separate if you want their skin tones to stay natural. It’s for photographers who enjoy shaping a scene, though it won’t suit every neutral-light setup.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Canon

Product type: Colour filter set

Named product: Canon EL-1

Category: Accessories > Bounce > Diffuser
