The H&Y HD EVO-Series White Mist 1/2 Filter Kit is made for photographers who want a gentler, more atmospheric rendering straight from the lens. A white mist filter softens the appearance of highlights and takes some of the crisp edge off the image, while retaining the scene’s overall character. That can suit portraits, backlit subjects and night views where lamps or other bright details are part of the picture. The 1/2 designation identifies the filter’s strength, giving you a defined effect rather than an adjustable one. This version is sized at 72mm, so it’s intended for a lens with a matching filter thread. It’s a considered creative filter, rather than a clear protective filter: choose it when you want its softening effect in the photograph.

Specialist Note

Hard highlights can draw attention away from a face or make night lights feel a little stark; this filter gives you a way to soften that rendering while you shoot. The 1/2 strength makes the effect a deliberate part of the image, so I’d use it for portraits with bright background light or for evening scenes with lamps in frame. Keep those bright points visible in your composition to make the softened glow part of the picture. The 72mm size is the detail to match to your lens’s filter thread. It suits someone who wants this look consistently; if you need a crisp, unfiltered rendering, take it off for that frame.

Technical Specifications

Brand: H&Y

Series: HD EVO-Series

Filter type: White Mist

Strength: 1/2

Size: 72mm

Category: Filters > Protection
