The Radius RAD-1 Shock-Mount MKH50 Edition is a microphone accessory for a setup built around the MKH 50. Its purpose is to support the microphone in a shock-mount arrangement, making it relevant for interviews, dialogue recording and other speech work where knocks around the stand can distract. It suits sound recordists and production teams who use the named microphone and want an accessory selected for that setup, rather than a mount chosen without regard to the mic. Keep its job in perspective: it addresses movement reaching the microphone through its support; it won’t change the sound of the room or remove background noise. If your recording setup centres on the MKH 50, this is a specific piece of the support arrangement, not an audio-processing solution.

Specialist Note

For a seated interview with an MKH 50, I’d make the RAD-1 part of the microphone’s support setup before positioning the mic for the speaker. The “shock-mount” in its name is the detail that matters when a stand or its surroundings get nudged: the mount is intended to limit that movement reaching the microphone. Its MKH50 Edition name also gives you a clear pairing to work from, so I’d choose it for a rig built around that microphone rather than assume it’s a universal mount. It suits speech recording where a clean, steady mic position matters. Just keep expectations practical: it won’t fix noise picked up from the room itself.

Technical Specifications

Product: Radius RAD-1

Type: Shock mount

Edition: MKH50 Edition
