It’s intended for managing light when you want more control over exposure, such as making a daylight long exposure or keeping a chosen shutter setting while filming in bright conditions. Landscape photographers and filmmakers who already use this format are the people most likely to find it useful. The Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV Radiant Soft 3 is identified as an ND filter, but the product name alone doesn’t tell us its exact light reduction. That matters when choosing a filter for a precise exposure change. I’d see it as a format-specific option for controlled work, rather than a general-purpose filter to buy without considering how it fits your existing setup.

Specialist Note

6.6 × 6.6 means you’re working with a square filter format, so it makes sense for a setup already organised around filters of that size. I’d consider it for daylight landscape work when you want moving water to register with a softer sense of motion: choose the shutter time for the effect, then use ND filtering to manage the light reaching the camera. For video, it can help you hold your chosen shutter setting in bright conditions rather than changing it just to control exposure. The name identifies this specific Radiant Soft 3 variant; I wouldn’t assume a particular exposure reduction from the number alone. Its square format is the practical consideration to plan around.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Schneider-Kreuznach

Series: MPTV Radiant Soft 3

Filter type: ND filter

Format: 6.6 × 6.6
