Kodak Eastman Kodak Ektachrome E100 135-36 | Fine-grain colour slide film

Flat-looking colour and grain that distracts from detail are common frustrations with film; Kodak Eastman Kodak Ektachrome E100 135-36 brings vivid colour together with a smooth, fine grain in a 100 ISO slide film. Its neutral colour character keeps the result balanced, while the fine grain preserves a clean impression of detail. That combination makes it a considered option for photographers who want colour transparencies, whether they’re experienced film users or just starting to explore slide film. For a landscape, the lively colour gives the scene presence without an exaggerated colour description; for portraits, the neutral character offers a restrained starting point. It also suits close, detail-led subjects, where fine grain matters to the overall look. The 100 ISO rating is a specific part of the film’s character, so this isn’t a high-sensitivity roll to choose simply for dim conditions. You get 36 exposures on a standard 35mm roll, enough to work through a set of related views or keep a compact project on one roll. Ektachrome is a slide film, so choose it for the distinctive transparency-film experience rather than a conventional colour negative look. Kodak’s appeal here is straightforward: vivid colour, fine grain and detail, in a neutral 100 ISO film.

Highlights

• Slide film: Ektachrome is a colour transparency film, giving your photographs the character of a slide rather than a colour negative. Pick it when that distinct film format is part of the result you’re after.
• 100 ISO sensitivity: The film’s stated speed is 100 ISO. That’s a useful fixed point when choosing a roll for a project and planning around the sensitivity you want to shoot.
• Neutral colour character: The colour rendering is described as neutral, a helpful quality when you want a balanced starting point rather than a strongly shifted colour look. It keeps the film’s vivid colours from being the only part of its character.
• Vivid colour: Kodak describes the results as lively in colour. That quality works well for subjects with colour variation, from a broad landscape palette to smaller details that give a scene its own character.
• Smooth, fine grain: The fine grain gives images a smoother overall texture. It’s a particular draw for film users who want the character of an analogue image without grain becoming the main feature of the photograph.
• Fine detail: Ektachrome is noted for recording fine details. That makes it a natural candidate for photographs where texture and small visual elements contribute to the image, rather than colour alone carrying the frame.
