Caruba 5IN1 Gold, Silver, Sun Yellow, White, Translucent 30cm | Five reflector surfaces in a 30cm screen

When a portrait or close-up needs a little more control over the light, a reflector screen can help you shape what’s already there. This Caruba 5IN1 is a 30cm reflector screen with five named surfaces: gold, silver, sun yellow, white and translucent. That gives you different options in one small-format reflector, rather than needing to choose a single colour for every situation. It suits photographers who want to experiment with reflected or diffused light in a compact setup, especially for nearby subjects where a smaller screen is practical. Its strongest point is the choice of surface: warm tones when you want warmth, white for a more neutral-looking lift, silver for a stronger reflection, or translucent when you want to soften light passing through. At 30cm, it’s deliberately modest in size; for a broad scene, a larger reflector would be easier to work with.

Choosing a surface

Think of the colours as different ways to steer the look of the light, rather than five interchangeable sides. Gold and sun yellow both lean warm, while white gives a more restrained fill. Silver is the option to try when you want a more pronounced reflection. The translucent surface works differently: place it between the light source and your subject to soften the light coming through. Those are useful starting points, not rules; the result depends on the light and the subject in front of you. With a 30cm screen, small adjustments to its position can make a visible difference on a close subject, so move it a little at a time and compare the effect. If you’re working alone, that simple process is often more helpful than trying to judge all five surfaces at once. Pick one, take a look, then change only if the light needs it.
