LaCie D2 Professional 20TB 3.5IN USB-C USB3.1+

LaCie D2 Professional 20TB 3.5IN USB-C USB3.1+ | Room for a substantial working archive

Its defining feature is simple: this external hard drive offers 20TB of storage in a 3.5-inch format. That makes it worth considering if your photo library, video projects or other files have outgrown smaller drives. The USB-C and USB 3.1+ connection details are part of the product name, so they’re useful points to compare with the ports and setup you plan to use. This is a capacity-focused option for photographers, studios and other creators who need space to keep a large collection of files together. It’s also relevant for anyone building an archive that’s easier to manage in one place than spread across several smaller drives. The honest caveat: a large drive gives you room, but it doesn’t replace a separate backup plan.

Consider how you’ll use the space

Before choosing a drive, think about what you want to store and how you’ll organise it. A single archive might hold completed projects, older shoots or files you don’t need on your computer every day. Keeping folders clearly named and separating active work from long-term storage can make a sizeable library less of a hunt. If you regularly move large projects between locations, consider whether a 3.5-inch drive suits that routine; the title identifies this as a 3.5-inch model, rather than a smaller-form drive. For a fixed storage role, the key question is whether this capacity and connection match the way you plan to work. Pick it for the space you need, and keep another copy of important files somewhere separate.
