The Caruba Background Cloth gives you a green backdrop to use when you want to key out the background in a photo or video. It’s aimed at creators setting up a simple green-screen scene, from a presenter talking to camera to a product shot that needs a different background later. At 3 × 6 metres, it gives you a sizeable area to plan a frame around, though the right amount of coverage depends on your subject and how wide you shoot. The main reason to choose this cloth is its specific chroma-key purpose, rather than a decorative backdrop look. One practical point: getting a clean key still depends on how you light and frame the scene, so the cloth is a starting point, not an automatic editing fix.

Planning a chroma-key shot

Before setting up, think about how much of the scene needs to be replaced. A close portrait has different coverage needs from a standing presenter or a wider shot with movement. Keep the subject clearly in front of the green background, and avoid including edges or other parts of the room if you want the keyed area to look consistent. In your editing software, you can select the green and replace it with an image, video or plain background. The result depends on the footage and the keying work you do afterwards; a green cloth doesn’t remove that step. It’s a straightforward route to a changeable background when you want the final setting to be decided in post, rather than fixed at the time of shooting.

Technical Specifications

Brand: Caruba

Product type: Background cloth

Size: 3 × 6 m

Colour: Chroma key green
