That’s the part you want closed when you put a detached lens away or carry it separately, rather than leaving the rear exposed to everyday contact. The name also identifies this as version V2, so it’s easy to distinguish from other Tamron rear caps when choosing a replacement. It suits photographers using a Tamron lens for the Canon system who need a cap for storage, transport or the moments between changing lenses. This is a small, straightforward accessory, and its job is specific: cover the back of the lens. It doesn’t replace a cap for the front element, so keep that covered separately when the lens is stored.

Specialist Note

A lens comes off after a portrait session, and this is the little part that keeps its rear fitting covered as you pack away. I’d keep the Tamron Rear Cap Canon (V2) with a Tamron lens for the Canon system, especially if you swap lenses during the day or store a lens away from the camera. Fit the cap before putting the lens in your bag; that gives the rear end its own cover instead of leaving it exposed among your other kit. The V2 name is useful when you’re picking out this particular version. One honest point: it covers the rear, not the front glass, so you’ll still need a front cap for complete lens storage.

Technical Specifications

Product: Tamron Rear Cap Canon (V2)

Type: Rear cap

Brand: Tamron

System: Canon

Version: V2
