7Artisans 75mm f/1.4 - FullFrame - Canon RF-Mount - Black: Portraits with natural background separation

Portraits have clear subject separation and a gently softened background with the 7Artisans 75mm f/1.4, a fast full-frame short telephoto prime for Canon RF cameras. Its f/1.4 maximum aperture gives you a bright view and a shallow depth of field, useful for shaping portraits and working in the softer light of indoor events. The 75mm focal length brings a flattering perspective for head-and-shoulder portraits, while its 32° angle of view keeps the frame more focused on your subject than a wider lens would. At an event, that tighter framing is handy for candid moments and details without needing to move right beside the person you’re photographing. This is a fully manual lens, so focusing and setting the aperture are deliberate parts of making each frame. That direct control suits portrait sessions where you can take your time, as well as events where you want to set exposure to match the light. Its full-frame coverage and Canon RF mount make it a specific match for Canon’s RF system, rather than a general-purpose lens for other mounts. In black, it keeps a discreet look on the camera, and its fixed focal length encourages a consistent, considered way of framing.

Why 75mm works

• 13-blade diaphragm: The many aperture blades help keep out-of-focus highlights rounded. Portrait backgrounds take on a softer character when you shoot with the aperture open.
• Clicking aperture ring: Each click gives tactile feedback as you change the aperture. That makes small exposure adjustments easier to feel while you keep your eye on the composition.
• 88cm minimum focus distance: You can focus close enough for a tightly framed face or a small event detail, while still retaining the compressed perspective of a short telephoto.
• f/16 minimum aperture: The range extends well beyond the bright f/1.4 setting, so you can select a smaller opening when you want more of a scene in focus.
• Six elements in six groups: The optical design includes three high-refractive glass elements. It’s a specific, compact optical layout for this manual-focus prime.
• 58mm filter thread: This size gives you a clear reference when choosing a compatible filter. The lens measures 62mm across and 77mm long.
• 408g weight: The lens has a solid presence on the camera, while remaining a manageable size to carry for a portrait session or an event.

On your camera

The Canon RF mount is intended for Canon RF camera bodies, and the lens covers full-frame sensors. It also fits Canon APS-C RF-S bodies; there, the 75mm view frames like a 120mm lens on full frame, using the 1.6× crop factor. The manual-focus design means you set focus on the lens rather than relying on autofocus. That’s a natural match for composed portraits, where there’s time to place focus carefully, and a more deliberate way to work during faster-moving events.
