Cokin Filter A703 Cyan CC (CC20C)
Cokin Filter A703 Cyan CC (CC20C) | A deliberate cyan color correction
Without a dedicated filter, a cyan shift has to be made elsewhere in the workflow. The Cokin Filter A703 Cyan CC (CC20C) is a cyan color-compensation filter, giving you a physical way to move color balance toward cyan while making the image. It suits photographers who want to correct an overly warm or red-looking result at capture, or deliberately cool the overall color for a considered effect. Its value is in choosing that shift as part of the image-making process, rather than relying only on a later global adjustment. It can also be useful for careful color experiments where you want to explore a specific direction in the image’s color. This is a specialist filter, not a neutral protection layer: its job is to alter color. Choose it when cyan is the correction or look you want, rather than as a general-purpose filter.
Specialist Note
For a scene that’s coming out too warm, I’d consider the CC20C as a deliberate cyan correction. The “Cyan” name tells you the direction of the color shift; “CC” identifies it as a color-compensation filter, so it’s intended to adjust color rather than leave it untouched. I’d use it to counter a red-looking cast, or to give a scene a consciously cooler feel, then compare the result with an unfiltered frame to judge the change. It suits photographers who are making considered color decisions at capture. One point to keep in mind: it changes the color balance, so it isn’t the filter to use when you need neutral color.
