Cokin Filter P126 Gradual Mauve M1
Cokin Filter P126 Gradual Mauve M1 | Add a mauve gradient to your frame
Without a filter, a colour effect like this usually has to be added during editing. The Cokin P126 Gradual Mauve M1 gives you a mauve colour gradation to work with while composing the image. It suits photographers who want a noticeable tint in part of a scene rather than an even colour cast across the whole frame. Think of a landscape with a broad area of sky, or a carefully composed scene where a touch of mauve helps set the mood. The gradual effect makes it most useful when you can place the coloured portion over one area and keep the rest of the composition less affected. This is a creative filter, not a neutral correction tool; its appeal is the specific mauve look. If you want to shape colour in-camera rather than rely entirely on post-processing, it gives you a direct way to do that.
Specialist Note
The mauve tint is a deliberate effect, so it won’t suit every scene; that’s also what makes this filter worth considering when you want that colour in the image itself. The P126 name identifies the model, while Gradual Mauve M1 describes the look you’re choosing. For a landscape with a clear sky-to-ground division, I’d compose so the mauve gradation falls over the sky, then check that it doesn’t tint a subject you want to keep neutral. It suits photographers who enjoy shaping colour at capture, especially when a subtle edit later wouldn’t give quite the same intentional feel.
