Cokin Filter P132 Gradual Yellow Y1
Cokin Filter P132 Gradual Yellow Y1 | Adds a gradual yellow tone to selected areas
A gradual yellow tone can give a chosen part of a picture a warmer, more graphic feel. The Cokin Filter P132 Gradual Yellow Y1 is a colour filter for photographers who want that effect in camera rather than adding it later in editing. Its gradual yellow treatment is suited to compositions where you want colour to change across the frame, such as a landscape with a band of sky or an architectural scene with a distinct area of colour. It can also be useful when you’re exploring a more expressive look and want the colour shift to become part of the original image. The Y1 version is identified in the product name, so you can distinguish it from other gradual yellow options when choosing. It’s a focused creative filter: best when a yellow transition supports the picture, rather than when you want colour to stay neutral throughout.
Specialist Note
Y1 is the version designation here; in practice, it tells you which gradual yellow option you’re choosing when you want a yellow shift in the frame. I’d consider it for a landscape where you want the sky to take on a warmer colour, or for a graphic building composition where a yellow transition adds emphasis. Compose with the gradual area over the part of the image you want coloured, and keep the rest of the frame in mind so the change feels intentional. The P132 name helps identify this specific filter when selecting it. One honest point: it’s made for adding yellow, so it won’t suit a scene where keeping colour neutral is your priority.
