Cokin Round Nuances ND1024 58mm
Cokin Round Nuances ND1024 58mm | Create long exposures in bright light
Moving water can take on a smooth, flowing look, and clouds can stretch across the frame when you use a long exposure. The Cokin Round Nuances ND1024 is a neutral-density filter: it reduces the light reaching the camera, giving you room to use a slower shutter speed in bright conditions while keeping your exposure under control. It suits photographers who want to explore motion blur in landscapes, seascapes or other outdoor scenes, and who are comfortable working with longer exposures. You can also use the reduced light to choose a wider aperture when you want it. The effect depends on your starting exposure and the scene, so it’s worth checking the result and adjusting as needed. This is a focused tool for deliberate exposure choices, rather than a filter for changing colour or adding a look by itself.
Specialist Note
The Cokin Round Nuances ND1024 58mm is for one clear job: making long exposures practical in bright light. ND1024 corresponds to a ten-stop reduction, which gives you a substantial change in shutter time; for example, a 1/30-second exposure becomes roughly 34 seconds. That’s useful for softening moving water or showing cloud movement, especially if you want a deliberate, blurred effect in a landscape. The 58mm size tells you which filter diameter to look for in your setup. I’d recommend it to someone who enjoys planning an exposure and checking the result, rather than making quick, spontaneous frames. Long exposures will blur moving subjects, so keep that effect in mind when you choose your scene.
