Desq Filter HMC Slim UV 55mm
Desq Filter HMC Slim UV 55mm | UV filtering in a slim format
For filtering ultraviolet light in a setup built around a 55mm lens thread, the Desq Filter HMC Slim UV 55mm is a straightforward option. It’s a UV filter with a slim designation, so the main things to match are the filter type and the diameter shown on your lens. That makes it relevant to photographers who want a UV filter for a lens marked 55mm, rather than a filter chosen for a particular camera body. Use it when UV filtering is what you need; the product name doesn’t give grounds to promise a particular change in colour, contrast or sharpness. Its HMC designation is also part of the product name, but without further details I wouldn’t read extra performance claims into it. If your lens takes a different filter size, this one won’t be the right fit.
Specialist Note
The easiest mistake with a filter is buying the wrong diameter; with this one, the key number is 55mm. Match that to the marking on the front of your lens, and you’ll know whether it’s the right size. I’d consider it for someone who specifically wants a UV filter for a 55mm lens, for example when setting up a lens for everyday daylight photography. The Slim name points to a slim format, which keeps the design focused on a modest profile at the lens front. HMC is included in the model name, but I wouldn’t promise a particular coating benefit without more detail. Its limit is simple: it’s for 55mm, not other sizes.
