Formatt Hitech FC ND 100x150mm (4x6) NDSEG 0.3 (1 Stop)
Formatt Hitech FC ND 100x150mm (4x6) NDSEG 0.3 (1 Stop) | Reduce exposure by one stop
In bright conditions, you may want to let in a little less light without changing your framing. This Formatt Hitech FC ND filter provides a one-stop reduction, a measured step that can help when your chosen exposure is just slightly too bright. It’s a straightforward option for photographers who want that small amount of control over exposure, rather than a strong reduction in light. The 0.3 designation corresponds to one stop: you can, for example, double your shutter time while keeping the aperture unchanged, or close the aperture by one stop while keeping the shutter speed. Its stated size is 100 × 150 mm, also given as 4 × 6 inches. That gives you the key practical details at a glance: a large-format filter with a modest density. It’s best suited to situations where one stop is enough to make the exposure work for your intended settings.
Specialist Note
The 100 × 150 mm format is the first thing to consider here: it’s a sizeable filter, so think about how you’ll position it in your setup before choosing it. Its 0.3 density takes one stop off the exposure, which is a restrained adjustment rather than a dramatic darkening. For a bright scene where you want a longer shutter time, try doubling the exposure time and keep the aperture as it is; for example, move from 1/125 sec to 1/60 sec. It also suits anyone who needs to close down by one stop but wants to retain the same shutter speed. My honest advice: if you need a much longer exposure, one stop may not be enough on its own.
