Freewell Osmo Pocket 4p Black Glow Mist 1/8 Filter - White
Freewell Osmo Pocket 4p Black Glow Mist 1/8 Filter - White | Softens bright highlights gently
Soften bright points of light and give footage a gentler, more atmospheric look with the Freewell Osmo Pocket 4p Black Glow Mist 1/8 Filter. It’s a filter named for the Osmo Pocket 4p, with a subtle 1/8 strength for a restrained mist effect rather than a heavily softened image. The Black Glow Mist look can take the edge off highlights, which is useful for night scenes with lamps or signs, and for portraits where you want a softer rendering of bright light. It suits Osmo Pocket 4p users who want to shape the mood in-camera while filming, instead of relying entirely on an edit afterwards. The effect is deliberately light, so don’t expect a pronounced haze; that’s part of its appeal if you want the scene to remain clear and recognisable.
Choosing the look
Use it when the scene has bright highlights you’d like to render more softly, rather than as an everyday effect for every shot. A night street scene is one practical example: point the Osmo Pocket 4p towards a composition with visible lamps or signs and let the filter’s mist character soften their appearance. For a subtler result, frame so those bright sources occupy less of the image.
Specialist Note
The 1/8 strength is the detail I’d focus on first: it keeps the Black Glow Mist look gentle, so highlights can bloom a little without making the whole image feel hazy. That makes this Freewell filter a considered option for Osmo Pocket 4p owners who want a softer mood in night footage or portraits with bright light in the frame. I’d use it when there’s a clear reason for the glow—street lamps, illuminated signs or a bright background—not automatically in every scene. Its restrained effect is also its limit: if you want an obvious, dreamy haze, this strength may look too subtle.
