GREEN.L CPL 55mm
GREEN.L CPL 55mm | Tame reflections and deepen skies
Reduce distracting reflections on water or glass, and bring more depth to a blue sky with the GREEN.L CPL 55mm polarizing filter. Its 55mm size is the key detail to match to your lens’s filter size. A circular polarizer is most useful outdoors, where reflected light can wash out colour and detail: rotate the filter while looking through the camera to find the effect you want. The change depends on the angle of the light, so the result can vary as you move around your subject. It can also be handy for photographing a shop window or a stream, when you want less reflected scenery and a clearer view of what’s behind the surface. This is a focused tool for photographers who want to manage reflections in camera; it won’t remove every reflection, and its effect is less noticeable on metal surfaces.
Specialist Note
The 55mm size makes matching this filter to a lens a matter of checking that lens’s filter size, rather than guessing from the camera body. Because this is a CPL, you can turn it as you compose and watch reflections change in the viewfinder. For a water scene, adjust it until the surface glare eases and details beneath it become easier to see; for a blue sky, try it with the sun off to the side rather than directly in front of you. I’d recommend it to someone who often photographs glass, water or open landscapes and wants hands-on control over reflected light. One trade-off: polarizers reduce some incoming light, so you may need a slower shutter speed in dim conditions.
