GREEN.L MC-CPL 72mm
GREEN.L MC-CPL 72mm | Control reflections and glare
On a sunny day, reflections can hide detail in water or glass, or leave a washed-out look in a landscape. The GREEN.L MC-CPL 72mm is a polarizing filter for photographers who want more control over those effects while shooting, rather than trying to correct them later. It can reduce reflections from non-metallic surfaces and deepen the appearance of a blue sky when the shooting angle is right. That makes it useful for outdoor scenes, shop-window details and water where you want to see beneath the surface. The 72mm designation identifies its filter size, so it’s intended for a lens with a matching 72mm filter thread. A polarizer does affect the light reaching the camera, and its effect changes with your angle to the subject and the sun. It’s a practical tool when glare is part of the picture you want to manage.
Getting the effect
Look through the camera as you turn the polarizer, and watch how the reflections or sky change. Stop when the result looks natural: the strongest setting isn’t always the most convincing, especially across a wide landscape where the sky can darken unevenly. For water or glass, make small adjustments until you can see the detail you want without removing every reflection. The filter is most effective when the light, subject and camera position work in its favour, so a slight change in your shooting angle can matter too.
Specialist Note
The GREEN.L MC-CPL 72mm can tame reflections on glass when changing your viewpoint isn’t practical. As a polarizing filter, it lets you judge the effect while composing: turn it slowly and watch the glare shift, rather than guessing at the result later. The 72mm size is the key detail when choosing it for a lens; match that number to the lens’s filter thread. I’d consider it for photographing displays through windows or bringing more definition to a bright outdoor scene. One limitation to keep in mind is that a polarizer reduces the light reaching the camera, so you may need to allow for that in your exposure.
