H&Y RevoRing Black Mist 1/8 Filter 46-62mm
H&Y RevoRing Black Mist 1/8 Filter 46-62mm | A gentle diffusion look
The defining choice here is the Black Mist optical effect: it’s intended to soften the feel of bright light without turning the whole image into a heavy, hazy look. The 1/8 strength points towards a restrained treatment, suited to photographers and filmmakers who want a little atmosphere while keeping the scene recognisable. It’s especially worth considering for portraits, interiors with bright practical lights, or evening scenes where light sources are part of the composition. This isn’t a neutral filter for protecting a lens or balancing exposure; it’s a creative choice that changes the rendering. If you enjoy a softer, more cinematic character in your images, the H&Y RevoRing brings that look into a filter sized for the 46–62mm range.
Specialist Note
In the blue hour, a row of lit café windows can give a portrait just the right sense of place. This is where I’d consider a Black Mist filter: it’s made for a softer treatment of that bright light, rather than for changing exposure. The 1/8 strength is the restrained option in the name, so I’d start with it if you want atmosphere without making the effect the whole story. Its 46–62mm sizing gives you a clear range to work within; compare that with the filter size marked for the lens you plan to use. It suits portrait and mood-led video work. Keep in mind, it’s a creative look, not an all-purpose filter.
