H&Y RevoRing White Mist 1/8 Filter 67-82mm
H&Y RevoRing White Mist 1/8 Filter 67-82mm | Gentle highlight diffusion
A bare lamp in a portrait can look sharper and harsher than the mood you’re trying to create. The H&Y RevoRing White Mist filter is made to soften that kind of bright highlight, giving light sources a gentler appearance while retaining the scene around them. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want a more diffused look at capture, rather than relying on post-production to soften the image later. White Mist diffusion can be useful for portraits with practical lights in the frame, or night scenes where small points of light contribute to the atmosphere. The 1/8 grade is the strength named for this filter; it’s a restrained starting point when you want a softened rendering rather than an obviously hazy effect. This is a specialist filter for shaping the look of light, not a general-purpose protection filter.
Specialist Note
This filter softens bright highlights optically, instead of asking you to smooth the whole image afterwards. The 1/8 strength keeps the effect subtle, so I’d consider it for a portrait with a lamp in the background or a night scene with small lights in the frame; let those highlights stay visible so the diffusion has something to work on. The RevoRing sizing covers 67–82mm lens threads, which means you can use this filter across different front-thread sizes within that range rather than needing a separate size for each. One honest limit: if you want a strong, dreamy haze, this light grade may be too restrained.
