Hahnemühle DFA Photo Rag Pearl 320GSM 91.4cmx12m

Hahnemühle DFA Photo Rag Pearl 320GSM 91.4cmx12m | A wide roll for photo printing

For prints planned in a wide format, this Hahnemühle photo paper gives you a 91.4cm-wide roll with 12 metres to work from. It’s aimed at photographers and printmakers who need paper in a roll rather than individual sheets, and who want to choose the length of each print as they work. The name identifies it as Photo Rag Pearl, with a stated weight of 320gsm. That gives you the key details for deciding whether this roll suits the work you have in mind, without guessing at its surface or print performance. The wide format is the practical point: it offers room for larger images and lets you plan a run of prints from one roll. If you’re comparing paper for a specific printer or image, match the roll dimensions and paper name to your own printing setup.

Working with a roll format

A roll is a different way to buy photo paper from a pack of fixed-size sheets. You can plan print lengths around the images you want to produce, rather than choosing from a set of sheet dimensions. Here, the stated width is 91.4cm and the roll length is 12m, so those are the measurements to consider when planning storage and print jobs. The product name also gives you two useful identifiers when comparing paper: Photo Rag Pearl and 320gsm. I’d start by thinking about the largest print you intend to make and how much paper your work will use; that makes it easier to judge whether a roll is the right format for your routine. The honest limitation of the information here is that the name alone doesn’t describe how the paper renders a particular image, so your own print requirements should guide the choice.
