Hahnemühle DFA Photo Rag Satin 310GSM 111.8cmx12m

Hahnemühle DFA Photo Rag Satin 310GSM 111.8cmx12m | Satin photo paper in a wide roll

Choosing photo paper by name alone can leave you unsure whether its surface, weight and dimensions suit the work in front of you. Hahnemühle DFA Photo Rag Satin is a satin-finish photo paper with a stated weight of 310 gsm, in a 111.8 cm by 12 m format. It suits photographers, studios and printmakers planning output around a wide roll rather than individual sheets, especially when the paper’s named finish and weight are part of the selection. The honest point is that those details identify the paper; they don’t predict exactly how a particular image will look in print. That depends on the image and the printing setup. If you’re comparing roll options, the width and length give you concrete figures to plan around.

Planning around the roll

At Renz, we’d start by looking at the prints you intend to make. Consider the width of your planned output and how you’ll arrange prints across the paper, then estimate how much material a print run will use. That gives you a practical way to assess whether this format makes sense for your work, rather than choosing on the product name alone.

It’s also worth treating the surface and weight as separate parts of your decision. The title identifies this paper as Satin and gives its weight as 310 gsm; use those details when comparing paper options for a specific project. If you already have a preferred workflow, compare its media requirements with the dimensions here. That’s a more dependable basis for choosing than assuming every photo paper will suit the same job.
