Hama Optical Audio Cable ODT-Plug (TosLink) Metal 3.0 M

Hama Optical Audio Cable ODT-Plug (TosLink) Metal 3.0 M | Connect audio over TosLink

Connect an audio source to a sound system with an optical audio link, and keep the two devices joined across a little distance. The Hama Optical Audio Cable ODT-Plug (TosLink) Metal 3.0 M is a 3-metre cable for equipment with matching TosLink optical audio sockets. It suits a home setup where the source and the audio device aren’t side by side, but where a wired connection is the straightforward option. The name also specifies a metal construction, while the supplier lists the cable in black. In use, the important point is the socket at each end: both devices need to accept TosLink. That’s a simple detail, but it’s the one that determines whether this cable fits your setup. Its length gives you room to position the connected devices apart without choosing a shorter lead.

A practical fit for a spaced-out setup

Think of this cable as the link between two parts of an audio system, rather than an accessory that changes what either device can do. If your source and sound equipment have TosLink sockets, this is the connection type to look for. A cable can join matching sockets; it can’t add an optical input to equipment that doesn’t have one, so the connection points matter more than the product’s appearance.

The 3-metre length is useful when the devices need some space between them. Measure the route you want the cable to take, including any distance around furniture, rather than judging only by the gap between the units. That gives you a more realistic sense of the reach you need. The black colour is understated alongside other cables, and the metal detail is part of the product name. There’s no need to overcomplicate the choice: match the TosLink connection at both ends and make sure the cable can reach along your intended route.
