Indipro Coiled D-Tap To Sony NP-FW50 Type Dummy Battery

Indipro Coiled D-Tap To Sony NP-FW50 Type Dummy Battery | Connect D-Tap power to an NP-FW50-type battery slot

Running a setup around a Sony NP-FW50-type battery can be limiting when you want to use a D-Tap power source instead. This Indipro adapter connects the two: a coiled D-Tap lead runs to a dummy battery shaped for the NP-FW50 type. It’s for filmmakers and camera users whose equipment takes this battery type and whose setup uses D-Tap power. Its job is specific: provide a link between that power connection and the battery-shaped contact in the equipment. The coiled lead is part of the design, rather than a straight cable. This is best suited to a setup where those two connections are already part of the plan; the product name alone doesn’t tell us the electrical details, so those need to match your own power arrangement. If you’re moving away from relying on a standard NP-FW50 battery, this adapter gives you the connection to do it.

How the connection fits your setup

There are two ends to identify before choosing this adapter: the D-Tap connection on the power-source side and the NP-FW50-type dummy battery on the equipment side. Both are named in the product, which makes it easier to see what role it has in a rig. It’s an adapter, not a replacement battery to carry as a spare. The dummy battery is the part that goes in place of an NP-FW50-type battery, while the D-Tap end connects to the corresponding power source. That’s the whole point of this cable: it bridges those connection types. If either end doesn’t match your setup, this isn’t the right link between them.
