JJC F-ND6x77 MRC Pro ND Filter (6 Stops) 77mm
JJC F-ND6x77 MRC Pro ND Filter (6 Stops) 77mm | Six-stop exposure control
The defining choice in this JJC filter is its six-stop neutral-density reduction. It cuts the light reaching the camera, giving you room to use a slower shutter speed or a wider aperture when the scene is bright. That makes it useful when you want movement to blur, or when you want to keep an aperture open instead of shortening the exposure. The stated strength gives you a clear starting point for planning the change, rather than an unspecified amount of light reduction. It suits photographers who have a particular exposure effect in mind and want to make it in daylight or other bright conditions. A neutral-density filter doesn’t change the subject; it changes how much light reaches the camera, so you can shape the exposure to suit the result you’re after.
Specialist Note
Exposure changes are straightforward to plan around this filter: a 1/60-second shutter speed becomes about one second after six stops, which can soften flowing water instead of freezing it. Treat that as a starting calculation, then meter again for the scene and your chosen aperture. The 77mm size is the practical matching point: use it with a lens that takes 77mm filters, rather than relying on camera brand. I’d suggest it to someone deliberately after longer exposures or more aperture room in bright light. One limitation is the fixed six-stop reduction; it won’t give you the same exposure change as a stronger filter, so it may not produce very long shutter speeds in every scene.
