Kaiser Repro-Grondplank 50x60cm

Kaiser Repro-Grondplank 50x60cm | A set-sized base for reproduction work

For photographing a subject against a defined base, the Kaiser Repro-Grondplank 50x60cm gives your setup a clear size and a black finish. It’s a reproduction baseboard for camera enthusiasts, studios and anyone making careful copy photographs of flat subjects. The 50 x 60 cm format gives you a fixed area to work within, so you can plan where a document, print or other subject sits in the frame before you start. Its black colour also gives the scene a distinct background; how that reads in the final picture will depend on the subject and your lighting. This is a straightforward piece of studio equipment, with no complicated description needed: it’s a baseboard with a specific footprint. That simplicity is useful when you want to keep your attention on positioning and framing rather than on a more elaborate support setup.

The dimensions are worth considering alongside the subjects you plan to photograph. A 50 x 60 cm board gives you room to position smaller flat items with some space around them, while also setting a practical limit on the area available. If you regularly photograph larger material, you’ll want to think about how it will fit within that rectangle. For individual prints, pages or similarly sized subjects, the defined outline can make it easier to repeat a considered placement from one image to the next.

Black is the only colour fact provided for this board, so it’s best to judge the background in relation to the work you photograph. A dark base may suit a particular presentation, while a dark subject can blend into it; placement and lighting matter. That’s a simple point, but it can save time when choosing a base for a reproduction setup. The board’s role is clear from its name and category: it’s a studio accessory for reproduction work, with its dimensions stated plainly so you can decide if it suits the subjects you handle.
