Kase Revolution Plus ND8 82mm
Kase Revolution Plus ND8 82mm | Control bright light by three stops
Bright daylight can make it difficult to use a slower shutter speed, especially when you want moving water to blur rather than freeze. The Kase Revolution Plus ND8 is a neutral-density filter: it reduces the light reaching the camera, giving you more room to choose a longer exposure in bright conditions. ND8 represents an eightfold reduction in light, or three stops. That makes it a practical strength for landscape work, flowing water and other scenes where you want motion to appear softer without changing the scene itself. The 82mm size is the key detail when choosing one: it’s intended for a lens with an 82mm filter thread. If your lens takes a different size, this one won’t fit directly. For photographers who want a straightforward way to manage exposure in daylight, its defined three-stop reduction gives you a useful amount of control.
Specialist Note
Wanting a silky water effect in daylight, then finding your shutter speed is already too fast, is exactly the sort of exposure problem this ND8 helps address. Its three-stop reduction gives you room to slow things down; for example, a metered 1/125 sec exposure becomes about 1/15 sec at the same aperture and ISO. That’s a useful starting point for a stream or small waterfall, with a tripod helping keep the rest of the scene steady. The 82mm size matters just as much: match it to an 82mm filter thread, rather than guessing from the lens name. I’d point this out to landscape photographers who want moderate light reduction. It won’t replace a stronger ND when you need very long exposures in bright sun.
