Kondor Blue KB-MB-SS12 Safety Braid For Matte Box 12" Blue
Kondor Blue KB-MB-SS12 Safety Braid For Matte Box 12" Blue | A backup restraint for your matte box
Without a separate safety link, a matte box depends entirely on its main attachment to stay with the rig. The Kondor Blue KB-MB-SS12 Safety Braid adds a dedicated secondary restraint for setups where you want an extra layer of security around the matte box. Its stated 12-inch length gives you a defined span to plan around, while the blue colour makes it easier to pick out among darker rig parts and cables. It’s suited to camera operators and assistants who build or adjust rigs regularly and want a visible safety connection in the setup. Use it alongside the matte box’s normal mounting, not instead of it; that distinction matters. The braid’s job is focused: provide a backup link if the primary attachment shifts or comes loose. It’s a safety accessory for a matte box already in your rig, not a matte box, filter or mounting system.
Specialist Note
This braid isn’t a replacement for the matte box’s primary mount; its value is as a second restraint. The 12-inch length gives you a fixed reach, so route it between the matte box and a secure point on the rig with enough slack for normal adjustment, but not so much that it hangs loose. The blue colour is handy when you’re checking a busy setup: it’s easier to spot as you reposition the rig or prepare for a lens change. I’d recommend it to operators and assistants who regularly rebuild their matte box setup and want a clear backup link in place. Keep the main mount properly secured, and treat the braid as extra protection—not a reason to rely on a loose fit.
