LaCie 2Big 16Tb Thunderbolt 2 Usb3.0 STEY16000401 | 16TB of external storage for large archives

LaCie 2Big 16Tb Thunderbolt 2 Usb3.0 STEY16000401 is an external hard drive with 16TB of storage, built for people who need room for a substantial collection of files. That could mean a growing photo library, video projects or a long-running work archive. Its title names Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.0, giving you two connection standards to consider alongside your existing setup. For a photographer or editor who’s outgrowing smaller storage, the appeal is simple: a large stated capacity in one external HDD. I’d look at it as a home for files you want to keep together, rather than assume anything about its speed or internal configuration. Those details matter for some workflows, but aren’t needed to understand the main draw here: 16TB of external storage from LaCie.

Planning your storage

Before choosing any large-capacity drive, it helps to think about what you’ll store on it and how you expect to retrieve those files. A single archive can be easier to manage than a collection of scattered folders and drives, provided it suits the way you work. For image and video work, consider whether this is meant to hold completed projects, a working library or a separate copy of important files; those are different jobs, and one drive may not be the answer to every storage need. You’ll also want to weigh the named connection standards against the ports available in your setup. My practical take: choose this LaCie when the stated capacity matches your storage plans, and make the connection type part of that decision rather than an afterthought.
