Meyer Optik Görlitz Biotar 75 f/1.5 II Nikon Z-Mount
Meyer Optik Görlitz Biotar 75 f/1.5 II Nikon Z-Mount | A bright portrait telephoto
When a portrait feels too close to its surroundings, a telephoto lens can help you frame the subject more tightly and give the background less attention. The Meyer Optik Görlitz Biotar II is a telephoto lens for Nikon Z cameras, with a wide maximum aperture for working with selective focus and available light. It suits portrait photographers who want to draw attention to a face, and anyone who often makes tightly framed photographs of details. Open the aperture to soften the background and make the subject the visual focus; in dimmer indoor light, that wide opening gives you more room to work. The Nikon Z mount makes it a straightforward fit for photographers using that camera system. This is a specialist lens for considered framing rather than an all-purpose view: its appeal is the combination of telephoto framing and a bright aperture.
Specialist Note
Does the Biotar II make sense for portraits on Nikon Z? Yes, especially if you enjoy shaping a picture with focus and background rather than relying on a broad view. Its Nikon Z mount is the key practical detail: it’s intended for that camera system. The wide maximum aperture gives you the option to soften the background; for a head-and-shoulders portrait, open it up and keep your focus point carefully on the eye. It also suits tightly framed details when you want the surroundings to recede. One honest consideration: at the widest aperture, precise focus matters, so take care over where you place it.
