Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II MFT-Mount
Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II MFT-Mount | A thoughtful lens for street details
Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II MFT-Mount is a 30mm f/3.5 wide-angle prime for photographers who like to choose their framing carefully. It suits street and travel photography, particularly when you want to make a person, sign or small detail the focus of a frame rather than capture a very broad scene. Its estimated 40° angle of view gives you room for some surroundings without making the subject feel lost in them. The maximum aperture of f/3.5 is a practical fit for daylight and well-lit streets; in dimmer conditions, you may need to accept a slower shutter speed or raise your camera’s ISO. This is an interchangeable lens with a simple, deliberate appeal: a fixed focal length that encourages you to work the scene by changing your position. It’s for photographers who enjoy that considered approach, not those who want a zoom to reframe from the same spot.
Specialist Note
Street photographers who like to pick out a passer-by or a shopfront detail will get a lot from this lens’s perspective. On a Micro Four Thirds body, its field of view is equivalent to 60mm on full frame, which helps keep attention on a subject instead of taking in an entire street. I’d pre-focus manually on a spot where people are likely to pass, then wait for the right moment; that makes the most of the Lydith’s manual focus. It also suits travel details and portraits in context. The trade-off is that 60mm-equivalent framing can feel tight in narrow streets, so it pairs best with a little space to step back.
