Permajet Deckle Edge Kreator & Cover

Permajet Deckle Edge Kreator & Cover | Give prints a deckled edge

A crisp, square edge can make a print feel a little too formal. The Permajet Deckle Edge Kreator & Cover is for photographers and printmakers who want a deckle edge instead: an irregular, paper-like finish that gives a print a more handmade feel. It’s a specialist tool for changing the look of a print’s edge, rather than another kind of photo paper. That makes it worth considering when the border is part of the presentation, not just something to trim away. The idea is simple, but the result changes the character of a finished print. If you prefer a clean, straight edge, this isn’t aimed at that look; its appeal is precisely the softer, less formal finish suggested by its name.

Think of it for prints you plan to display, give as a personal gift or include in a small portfolio where the edges will be seen. A deckled edge can suit an image with a quiet, considered presentation, while a very graphic image may call for a sharper finish. There’s no single right choice; it comes down to how you want the print to feel in the hand and on the wall. The product name also includes “Cover”, so keep the full name in mind when looking for this particular Permajet item. For anyone who enjoys making deliberate choices about print presentation, it offers a way to explore a less conventional edge without treating the photograph itself as the only part of the finished work.
