Portkeys Lanc Control Cable 40 cm
Portkeys Lanc Control Cable 40 cm | A short LANC control link
The defining decision is the 40 cm length: this is a deliberately short LANC control cable for keeping a control link close within a compact monitor setup. Its purpose is specific—to carry LANC control in a camera-and-monitor workflow, rather than provide extra reach across a rig. That makes it most relevant to operators who already use LANC and want a modest cable run with little slack. In a close-built setup, a short lead can be easier to route around the camera and monitor and less likely to hang in a loop. The trade-off is placement: the devices at either end need to stay fairly close. The Portkeys name identifies the cable, while LANC identifies its control type. Choose it for a setup built around LANC, not as a general-purpose remote lead. If your rig needs more distance between its parts, this length may restrict how you arrange them.
Specialist Note
Filmmakers shooting interviews or other controlled takes with a monitor-led camera setup are the people I’d point toward this cable, provided their workflow uses LANC. At 40 cm, it keeps the control link local, so plan to position the monitor and camera close together rather than expecting room to spread them across a rig. The LANC designation matters: this isn’t simply a short cable chosen for convenience, but a control lead for that specific type of workflow. I’d use it where a compact cable route is useful and the required control connection is already clear. If you need slack for repositioning, the short length is a real limitation.
