Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield White (Single)
Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield White (Single) | Wind protection for lavalier audio
On a breezy location or near an open window, a lavalier microphone can pick up distracting air movement. The Radius Mini Urchin LAV Windshield White is a small windshield for lavalier microphones, made to help reduce that interference at the mic. It suits filmmakers, interviewers and content makers who use a lav and need a simple way to address wind without changing their recording setup. The white finish is worth considering when the microphone is worn against light-coloured clothing or used in a bright frame; it may blend in more naturally than a dark cover. This is the single version, so it’s a straightforward option when you need one windshield for one microphone. Use it when wind is the concern, rather than expecting it to solve clothing rustle or other recording problems. Its specific microphone fit matters, so treat it as a lavalier accessory, not a general-purpose mic cover.
Specialist Note
The white finish is the detail you’ll notice first, and it can make a lav setup less visually prominent against pale clothing. I’d consider this for a presenter or interview subject wearing a light shirt, especially when the microphone needs to remain visible rather than tucked away. The “LAV” in the name makes its intended use clear: it’s a windshield for a lavalier mic, not a cover for a handheld microphone. It’s sold as one piece, which suits a single-mic setup without leaving you with extras. The honest limit is that a windshield addresses wind, not every source of unwanted noise, so keep clothing contact in mind too.
