Rycote Hi Wind Cover 2
Rycote Hi Wind Cover 2 | A dedicated cover for windy microphone setups
Wind on a microphone can make an otherwise usable recording difficult to listen to. The Rycote Hi Wind Cover 2 is a microphone accessory named for high-wind cover use, giving you a specific option to consider when recording outdoors or in another exposed setting. It’s relevant to location sound and video makers who want to address wind at the microphone rather than relying on cleanup after recording. The practical benefit is straightforward: a cover around the microphone is intended to help limit wind interference in the captured sound. Its name identifies it as the Hi Wind Cover 2, rather than a generic microphone accessory, which is helpful when you’re searching for or asking about this particular Rycote product. The title alone doesn’t establish which microphones it fits, so don’t assume it suits every mic. Match the cover to your microphone setup before choosing it.
Specialist Note
At an outdoor microphone position, I’d refer to the Rycote Hi Wind Cover 2 by its full name so we’re discussing this exact cover, not a different wind accessory. It’s listed as a microphone accessory, and the “Hi Wind Cover” wording makes its intended role clear: addressing wind around a microphone. I’d consider it for outdoor dialogue or location recording where wind is a concern, and use it as part of the microphone setup before recording rather than expecting software to solve every problem later. One point I’d keep in mind: the product name doesn’t tell us which microphones it fits, so the fit needs to be right for your particular setup.
