Rycote MWJ Zoom IQ6 Mini WJ
Rycote MWJ Zoom IQ6 Mini WJ | Compact wind protection for your IQ6
Without a wind cover, outdoor recordings can pick up distracting gusts across the microphone. The Rycote MWJ Zoom IQ6 Mini WJ is a microphone accessory named for the Zoom IQ6, intended to provide a compact wind-protection option for that specific recorder. It’s suited to Zoom IQ6 owners who record spoken notes, interviews or ambient sound outside and want to help keep wind noise from taking over the recording. The “Mini WJ” name identifies it as a small windjammer-style accessory, rather than a general-purpose microphone add-on. Its appeal is that focused role: a dedicated option for the IQ6, not a cover presented as a universal fit. If most of your recording happens indoors, wind protection may be less relevant; outdoors, it’s the kind of accessory to consider when breezes interfere with clear sound. The product name gives a clear intended pairing, without suggesting a broader list of compatible devices.
Specialist Note
“Will this work with my Zoom IQ6?” Yes — the IQ6 is the model named for this Mini WJ. That specific pairing is the point: you’re choosing a windjammer accessory for the recorder you own, rather than guessing whether a general cover will suit it. I’d consider it for outdoor voice notes or capturing ambient sound, where wind across the microphones can distract from what you’re trying to record. The Mini WJ designation also tells you this is the compact version, so it’s aimed at the IQ6 setup rather than being a broad solution for different microphones. If you record mainly indoors, you may have little need for it; its purpose is most relevant outside.
