Rycote Nagra Lino Mini Windjammer (New Style)
Rycote Nagra Lino Mini Windjammer (New Style) | Wind protection for Nagra Lino Mini recording
The Rycote Nagra Lino Mini Windjammer (New Style) is a black windjammer for the Nagra Lino Mini, intended to help manage wind during microphone recording. It’s for sound recordists and documentary makers who want a dedicated wind accessory for this named microphone, especially when recording outside or near moving air. Use it when wind could interfere with a recording, such as capturing spoken words outdoors or collecting location sound. The name identifies both the microphone it’s made for and the new-style version, so this is a focused accessory rather than a general-purpose microphone cover. Its role is straightforward: add a windjammer to the recording setup when wind is a concern. It won’t solve every audio problem, and it’s not a substitute for choosing a suitable recording position, but it gives Nagra Lino Mini users a specific accessory to consider for breezier conditions.
Specialist Note
For documentary makers recording outdoor speech or location sound, this is a neatly targeted accessory: its name points to the Nagra Lino Mini, rather than to a broad range of microphones. I’d consider it when wind is the particular problem you’re trying to manage; use the windjammer with the microphone during the recording, rather than expecting it to fix poor placement or unwanted background sound. “Mini” identifies the intended microphone, while “New Style” distinguishes this version by name. The black finish keeps the look restrained in a visible setup. One honest point: the information available gives no performance figures, so I wouldn’t promise a particular level of wind reduction. It’s best treated as the model-specific wind accessory it is.
