Rycote VP88/SKM4031 Mini Windjammer
Rycote VP88/SKM4031 Mini Windjammer | Help keep wind noise in check
Wind is less likely to take over your recordings when the microphone has a cover made for that job. The Rycote VP88/SKM4031 Mini Windjammer is a microphone wind cover for people using the VP88/SKM4031 and recording where moving air can reach the mic. Its purpose is specific: help reduce wind noise so voices and other wanted sounds are easier to hear in the recording. That makes it a practical accessory for location work, interviews or outdoor scenes where you can’t control the breeze. The Mini Windjammer is aimed at this named microphone rather than being a general-purpose accessory. It won’t remove every sound from a busy or gusty location, but it gives you a simple way to address wind at the microphone itself. If wind is a regular concern in your recordings, this is a focused addition to consider.
Specialist Note
The Rycote VP88/SKM4031 Mini Windjammer is a straightforward way to tackle wind reaching those named microphones. The VP88/SKM4031 designation is useful because it makes the intended pairing clear; I’d choose it when you’re recording with that setup, not as a cover to guess at for another mic. “Mini” also signals a compact-format wind cover, so it suits a kit where you want to add wind protection without choosing a larger accessory. For an outdoor interview, fit it before recording and listen to a short test while the mic is in position. It can help with wind, but it won’t silence traffic or every strong gust.
