Rycote Zipped Windjammer 7
Rycote Zipped Windjammer 7 | Wind protection for microphone use
Less wind noise in your recording starts with choosing a windjammer made for the job. The Rycote Zipped Windjammer 7 is an accessory for microphone use, identified by its zipped design. It’s intended for people who want wind protection as part of their recording setup, rather than relying on the microphone alone. The name tells us the product type and model designation, but doesn’t give a microphone fit or a specific level of wind reduction, so it’s best not to assume compatibility from the name alone. If you already know this is the Rycote windjammer you need, its zipped format is the defining detail to look for. For a careful purchase, match the exact product name to the wind protection required for your microphone setup; that way, you can choose on the basis of a known fit instead of guesswork.
Specialist Note
7 is the model number here, not a measurement of wind reduction, so I wouldn’t use it to predict recording conditions. The two useful clues in the name are “zipped” and “windjammer”: one identifies the closure style, the other tells you this is intended as microphone wind protection. That makes it relevant to someone planning outdoor audio, such as speech or location sound, where wind can interfere with a recording. My practical advice is to match the full name to the microphone accessory you’re sourcing before relying on it for a particular setup. The product name alone doesn’t identify a microphone fit, so I wouldn’t want to guess.
