SanDisk Extreme Pro 256GB UHS-II Cards SD 300MB &&&

SanDisk Extreme Pro 256GB UHS-II SD Card | Fast capture, quicker transfers

The 256GB capacity is the defining choice in the SanDisk Extreme Pro 256GB UHS-II SD card: it keeps a substantial amount of footage and stills on one card. Sequential read and write speeds reach 300 MB/s, so this card is made for workflows where capture and file transfer both need to move quickly. For action and event photography, its write speed can clear a camera buffer promptly during continuous shooting. For video, the 256GB capacity supports extended recording of high-resolution 4K UHD and 8K files before you need to change cards. And when a shoot is over, transfer speeds of up to 300 MB/s help move large RAW photo and video files onto your computer sooner. The V90 rating adds a defined minimum sustained write speed of 90 MB/s, a useful detail for recording video at high bitrates. That rating is more meaningful than the peak speed alone when recording demanding footage. This is a specialist card for fast capture and busy file workflows; the honest trade-off is that you’ll need a UHS-II card reader to make use of its UHS-II transfer capability.

What it does

• UHS-II interface: The card uses the UHS-II bus, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 300 MB/s. Those are maximum figures, but they set out the card’s potential for fast capture and offloading.
• V90 video rating: V90 specifies a minimum sustained write speed of 90 MB/s. That baseline is relevant when recording video with high data rates, where steady writing matters throughout a clip.
• 256GB SDXC capacity: This card holds a large set of image and video files in one place. Its listed capacity is suitable for recording 4K UHD and 8K video, with fewer card changes during a shoot.
• Fast sequential writing: Write speeds reach 300 MB/s, which can help a camera clear its buffer quickly after a burst. That’s useful when the next moment arrives before the previous set of images has finished saving.
• Fast sequential reading: Read speeds also reach 300 MB/s. Moving large RAW image collections or video files off the card can take less time when the reader and computer support comparable transfer speeds.
• IP68-rated protection: The card is rated against dust and water, including submersion in up to 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes. That’s a reassuring specification for work in exposed locations, though it’s still sensible to protect your files with backups.
• Drop resistance: SanDisk rates the card to withstand a fall of up to 6 metres. This adds protection against an accidental drop while handling cards on location or on set.

Good to know

The listed operating temperature range is -25°C to 85°C, which covers a wide spread of working conditions. The card measures 23.91 × 31.92 × 2.17 mm and weighs 1.67 g. Those compact dimensions and low weight are useful details when you’re carrying spare cards in a small case or pocket.
