SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB USB 3.2 Gen 2

SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB USB 3.2 Gen 2 - 800 MB/s read speed

Keep a portable copy of your files and memories close at hand, rather than relying on a single place to store them. The SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB USB 3.2 Gen 2 gives you 1 TB of solid-state storage, with a stated sequential read speed of 800 MB/s. It’s a compact drive for backing up content at home or taking files along to work, a shoot or a trip. Use it to keep a separate copy of important material, or connect it to a compatible laptop or desktop when you need access to what you’ve stored. The supplied USB-C to USB-A cable is useful when the computer’s available connection calls for USB-A. For carrying the drive, SanDisk has added a sturdy rubber hook that can attach to a belt or backpack. That detail, along with protection against drops from up to two metres, suits the portable role particularly well. It’s a straightforward storage option: the capacity and read-speed figure are clear, and the small format is easy to take along. Keep in mind that 800 MB/s is the stated sequential read speed; it isn’t a figure for every kind of task.

Portable Storage Features

• USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface: This is the drive’s stated interface, giving you a specific connection standard to compare with the ports on a compatible computer. It’s useful to have the interface named clearly when choosing a drive for your existing setup.
• USB-C connector: The drive connects via USB-C. The included USB-C to USB-A cable also provides a USB-A connection option, so the supplied cable covers both connector types at the drive and computer ends.
• Drop protection up to two metres: SanDisk specifies protection against drops from a height of up to two metres. That’s a helpful detail for a drive that travels in a bag or is carried between locations, though it doesn’t mean the drive is indestructible.
• Rubber carrying hook: A sturdy rubber hook lets you attach the drive to a belt or backpack. It keeps the storage drive attached to something you’re already carrying, rather than loose among the rest of your belongings.
• Compact dimensions: At 9.91 × 46.9 × 96.9 mm, the drive has a slim, compact shape. Those measurements give you a concrete idea of its footprint when making room for it in a bag or alongside other gear.
• 40-gram weight: The drive weighs 40 grams. That’s a modest amount to add to the items you carry, and worth noting if you plan to take your backup storage with you regularly.
