Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV HLYWD BLK Magic 1/4 6.6x6.6
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV HLYWD BLK Magic 1/4 6.6x6.6 | A defined grade in a square format
The Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV HLYWD BLK Magic 1/4 6.6x6.6 is a 6.6 × 6.6 filter in a 1/4 grade, intended for filmmakers who need a specific filtration choice in a large square format. Its Hollywood Black Magic name and grade make it a clearly identified option for building a consistent look into a production, rather than an adjustable effect you change on the filter itself. The 6.6 × 6.6 format suits a cinema workflow built around square filters; you’ll need a holder designed for that size. It’s most relevant to cinematographers and camera teams planning filtration across a scene or sequence, where selecting the grade in advance matters. The title gives you the format and strength, but doesn’t establish a particular camera system or holder compatibility, so this is best chosen as part of a known filter setup. If you’re matching filters across a production, the precise 1/4 designation gives you a clear reference when planning and communicating your selection.
Specialist Note
For filmmakers working on close portraits or carefully controlled studio scenes, this is a considered filter option when the 1/4 grade is the strength you want to build into the setup. I’d treat that grade as a fixed creative decision: it gives the crew a clear reference for repeating the same choice, but it isn’t a variable control. The 6.6 × 6.6 square format is useful when your workflow is already arranged around filters of that size; make sure your holder is made for this format. My honest reservation is simply that you need to choose the grade that suits the job in advance. If that’s how you work, the clear sizing and grading make this a straightforward filter to specify.
