Shape ARM3 Telescopic Support Arm Rodbloc w/ Quick Plate
Shape ARM3 Telescopic Support Arm Rodbloc w/ Quick Plate | Extend your camera setup from a tripod
Place a camera away from the tripod’s central position to create a wider, more flexible setup. The Shape ARM3 Telescopic Support Arm Rodbloc w/ Quick Plate is a tripod accessory with a telescopic arm and a quick plate, suited to photographers and video makers who need their camera positioned off to the side. Its extending design makes it useful when the tripod needs to stay put but the camera’s position needs to change. The quick plate is intended to make attaching or removing the camera more direct, which can help when you’re adjusting a setup between shots. It’s best for considered positioning rather than a fast-moving handheld setup: mount the tripod where it can stay stable, then extend the arm to set the camera’s viewpoint. Finished in black, the ARM3 has a focused role in a rig; it isn’t a tripod on its own.
Using the ARM3
Think of the telescopic arm as a way to move the camera’s position relative to the tripod, rather than moving the whole tripod every time you want a different framing. That can be handy for a fixed viewpoint where the camera needs to sit to one side. The quick plate suits workflows where you want the camera to come off the arm without treating the whole support as a single fixed assembly. Set the tripod first, then adjust the camera position to suit the shot.
Specialist Note
The ARM3’s telescopic section is the detail that changes how you can place a camera: the tripod can remain in position while the camera moves outward on the arm. I’d consider it for a static overhead view or a side-on product shot, setting the tripod securely and extending the arm only as far as the framing calls for. The quick plate is handy when you need to take the camera off between setups, rather than dismantling the support. This suits a deliberate studio or tabletop workflow more than a situation where you’re constantly relocating. One practical point: the arm extends the setup, so stability depends on placing the tripod carefully.
